Mourinho: Man United Will Extend Zlatan Contract

Manchester United are set to take up the option to extend Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract for a second season, manager José Mourinho announced on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old former Sweden striker  moved to Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer after leaving Paris St Germain, and has scored eight goals in all competitions so far for the Red Devils.

United posted on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon: “Jose confirms MUFC will take up the option to extend Ibra-official’s contract for a second season, running until the end of 2017/18.”

“Zlatan’s situation is simple: he has a one-plus-one contract with the club and we will execute the option of a second season,” Mourinho said during his press conference ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Feyenoord.
“He’s happy, committed and loving his life as a football player at United. This is probably the last big challenge of his wonderful career, so it is perfect for him to be here for the next 18 months and then he owns the decision of his future.”
