Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he would rather forfeit the remaining Premier League matches as he hailed his players’ performance despite losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in the farewell game at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane had given Spurs a 2-0 lead before Wayne Rooney got a goal back for United.
Mourinho reiterated that United’s priority is the UEFA Europa League following their inability to get into next season’s Champions League by finishing in the top four.
“After 2-0 we had to bring a bit more quality to the team, we brought more balance,” Mourinho said in his post-match press conference.
“We put players back in the right positions. I’m happy, I’m fine with what we had in terms of individual performances. The two goals conceded were bad.
“When people say we gambled by going to Europa League, we didn’t gamble. You can’t play two big competitions with 15 players. It was compulsory. The ones that needed to play 90 mins got to play, we got no injuries. At the moment, the Premier League matches are the ones we don’t want to play.”
United will round off their league season with an away game against Southampton on Wednesday before a final game at home against Crystal Palace on Sunday.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
