Mourinho Vows To Field Strong Side Vs Southampton, Pogba Out

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has vowed to pick a strong line-up against Southampton in Wednesday's Premier League tie at St. Mary's.

With a top-four place now out of reach, Mourinho is prioritising next Wednesday’s Europa League final clash with Ajax.

United are currently sixth in the league table on 65 points, seven points adrift of fourth-placed team Manchester City.

But the former Chelsea boss insists he will parade a team that will be strong enough to get a result against the Saints and in their final game of the season with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

“I have to build some teams with the minimum of conditions to fight for a result,” Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“We lost against Arsenal 2-0 and we fought for the result. We lost 2-1 [at Spurs] and we fought for the result.

“We always want to fight for the result. I don’t want to field a team where people think we aren’t fighting for the result – we are fighting for the result."

United will however be without star midfielder Paul Pogba who lost his father Fassou Antoine, 79, on Friday.
