Thomas Muller is hoping that Jerome Boateng remains at Bayern Munich this summer, describing him as “a very important player”. The 28-year-old Germany international forward has been assessing the squad going into the new Bundesliga season under incoming coach Niko Kovac and he has singled out Boateng as one player who he would like to remain at the Allianz Arena.
Muller’s compatriot had been linked with a move to Manchester United before the English transfer deadline last week, but ultimately remained in Bavaria.
And Muller insists that a player of Boateng’s quality will always be welcome in the Bayern ranks with a busy schedule coming up this season.
He said: “I hope Jerome stays; he is a very important player. If he is fit, there are only very few in the world who have his quality.”
