Musa In Action As Leicester’s U-23s Edge Everton

By James Agberebi: Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa was in action for 90 minutes but failed to find the back of the net as Leicester City U-23s came from behind to beat their Everton counterparts 2-1 in the Premier League 2 on Monday.

Other senior Leicester players who featured in the game were Eldin Jakupović and Yohan Benalouane.

A late brace from Tunisian Benalouane secured the comeback win for Leicester’s development squad.

Fraser Hornby had given Everton the lead in the 23rd minute before Benalouane drew Leicester level on 83 minutes.

And in the 88th minute, he scored the winner to end the game 2-1.

Following the win against Everton, Leicester U-23s have now extended their unbeaten run to 14 games in the PL 2.

The Foxes climbed back to second in the PL2 standings with 24 points from 12 matches, six below runaway leaders Liverpool, who have won 10 of their fixtures this term.

Musa is yet to taste action for Leicester’s first team in the Premier League so far this season.

The PL2 also known as the Professional Development League, is a system of youth football leagues that are managed, organised and controlled by the Premier League or by the Football League.

It was introduced by the Football Association via the Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012 and the system covers the under-18, under-21 and under-23 age groups.

Ahmed Musa should leave liechtester city when the transfer window open next month. That’s the best option for him if he is still interested in playing football.

  • This is normal all over the world. Not all players can play week in week out. After all you only have to feature 14 players at most in every match. You also feature your best legs in each position. How do you keep fit the remaining 9 or so players? You sometimes feature then in the u-18 and u-23 matches. A specific number of overaged players are accepted. These barely used player train with the senior team and hone their prowess with the junior team. Its a very good arrangement which has helped many players to regain their fitness and confidence especially those that sustained long term injuries. Cazola definitely will have to play with the junior Arsenal and gradually work his way into the senior team again. Ahmed Musa will benefit from playing with these junior teams to keep fit and keep his self esteem boosting his confident. Ahmed Musa is a must for WC in Russia. He is from the North and there are only 2 players from that region. He is also experienced and loyal to the national team.
