Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa will be leading CSKA Moscow’s attack in a push for a Champions League berth when they travel to take on relegation bound Amkar Perm on Monday.
Musa and CSKA’s title aspirations suffered major blow following their back-to-back losses first on the road trip to Zenith last weekend and their shock home loss to Dinamo Moskva in the midweek. CSKA lost both games by 2-1 margin and the former Kano Pillars pacey forward will be desperate to return to winning ways to enhance their chances of still landing a Champions League ticket ahead of Krasnodar.
Eleven points currently separate run away leaders Zenith at the top of the league table having garnered 54 points while CSKA currently sit in the 3rd place with 43 points behind Krasnodar who are second on the log with 44 points. With their title hopes in shambles, Musa and his teammates will be content to settle for a Champions League ticket provided their can upstage Krasnodar from the second position.
The Russian Premier League consist of 16 team with the league leader automatically qualifying for the Champions League while the second placed team will go through the qualifiers. The third, fourth and fifth team will settle for the Europa League slots.
