By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Super Eagles vice captain Ahmed Musa is optimistic that Nigeria will qualify for next the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon notwithstanding their present standing in the Group E of the qualifiers, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Nigeria are currently in third position in Group E on three ponts after losing their first match 2-0 in Uyo in June last year and winning 3-0 against Seychelles in Victoria on Saturday.
Super Eagles’ next opponent, Libya, top the group on four points having bagged 5-1 home win against Seychelles on matchday-one and held South Africa to 1-1 draw in Durban. The Bafana Bafana also have four points from two games but in second position behind Liby due to fewer goals scored. Seychelles, without any point, are at the bottom of the group.
Musa who captained the Super Eagles in the 3-0 win over Seychelles in Victoria told CSN that the team cannot afford to miss out on AFCON finals spot for the third time in a row, adding that the players have resolved to give their very best in the remaining matches.
“Our target is to win at least three of our four remaining matches and ensure we do not lose any more game after the loss to South Africa in Uyo. We have to revenge that defeat against South Africa and beat Seychelles again, then get the upper hand in the two legs with Libya
“We were not at our best against Seychelles in Victoria, but we still managed to win 3-0. The pitch was bad and the host team played more defensively without a particular pattern. We played to get the three points and we could have scored a lot of goals but three goals was not a bad result” the Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward stated.
On life in Saudi Arabia Ahmed Musa who joined Al Nassr from Leicester City this summer saild he was settling down very fast, adding that the standard of the league is quite high with the influx of many players from other countries.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
