Musa, Kameni, Aubameyang In African Team Of The Week's IZUCHUKWU OKOSI presents the African Team of the Week that features two Nigerian stars, two from Cameroon, three Senegalese, one from DR Congo, one from Gabon and Cote d' Ivoire respectively plus a Ghana international.   


Indomitable Lions of Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni was outstanding on Saturday in Malaga's 0-0 away draw against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabau. 

Kameni was Man of the Match in the game as he denied Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates several scoring chances. 

Real Madrid played a total of 51 shots, Ronaldo claiming 15 of them, but Kameni was not to be beaten by the Galaticos. Kameni caught the ball 72 times, distributed the ball accurately and made a one footed clearance in the game. He was however yellow-carded. 

Cote d' Ivoire's right-back Serge Aurier scored PSG's last goal in the 90th minute in their 4-1 mauling of Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Aurier played for 90 minutes in the game. The goal was his first in Ligue 1 this season in six games with eight rounds of matches already played thus far. 

The 22-year-old right back had two shots on target. He had 91.8% pass accuracy, won one aerial contest and touched the ball 71 times. Aurier made two tackles, four interceptions, no clearance but had one shot blocked and committed three fouls.

Cameroon's Sebastien Bassong had a very impressive outing in Norwich City's 2-2 away draw against West Ham United on Saturday. Bassong made one tackle, two interceptions, and an astonishing 11 clearances. He committed three fouls in the game. He won five aerial contests and made 55 touches of the ball in 90 minutes. 
The defender made 85.4% pass accuracy at Boleyn Ground. 

DR Congo central defender Chancel Mbemba was impressive in Newcastle United's 2-2 draw at St James' park against floundering champions Chelsea on Saturday. 

The defender who is sometimes deployed in the right-back position played for 90 minutes. He made a total of three tackles, six interceptions, six clearances and made two blocked shots. 

Senegal and Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare was impressive in Crystal Palace's 1-0 away win against Odion Ighalo's Watford on Sunday. 

The 25-year-old defender who has played in all of Palace's seven Premier League games so far this season was in action for 90 minutes. 

Souare made one interception and five clearances in the game. He made 73.5% pass accuracy and had 47 touches of the ball.

Black Stars of Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu capped his impressive performance for Udinese on Sunday with one of the goals for the club in their 2-1 away win over Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

The 61st minute strike was the second of the season in the Serie A for the midfielder in five games. 

Badu's two of three shots were on target. He made one key pass and had 82.9% pass accuracy. He touched the ball 52 times in the game.

Partnering Agyemang Badu in our African Team of the Week in a double defensive midfield role is Senegal's Cheikhou Kouyate. The West Ham United star scored the Hammers' second goal at the death in their 2-2 draw at their Boleyn Ground home.

Kouyate made four tackles, two interceptions, and committed one foul.  

Attacking wise, Kouyate played four shots with two on target. He made two key passes and had 75% pass accuracy. The Teranga Lion won two aerial battles and touched the ball 45 times.     

CSKA Moscow are undefeated in their last 17 matches in Russian Premier League and Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa helped in keeping this record intact on Saturday as the Army Men played a 1-1 draw at the Arena Khimki.

The Nigerian who will feature in the Eagles' two international friendlies against Congo and Cameroon in October played for 90 minutes as one of the three attacking midfield players behind striker Seydou Doumbia. He made 52.4% pass accuracy in the game and had 37 touches of the ball. None of his three shots were on target though. 

Gabon's Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored in the 63rd and 71st minutes for Borussia Dortmund in their second successive draws when they hosted new Bundesliga boys Darmstadt on Sunday. 

The draw sees Dortmund four points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich but Aubameyang has taken his goals haul to nine in seven games, ensuring that he has scored in every league game for his team. Aubameyang has played a total of 597 minutes so far this season.  

The Man of the Match, Aubameyang played a total of five shots, two of them on target. He made one key pass and had 61.5% pass accuracy. 

Interestingly the Gabonese had 37 touches of the ball in the game. 

Nigeria's Bartholomew Ogbeche scored a brace in the 26th and 61st minutes for Dutch Eredevisie side Cambuur on Saturday in a six-goal thriller as his club held home side Utrecht to a 3-3 draw at Utrecht's 16,073-capacity Stadion Galgenwaard.

The former Super Eagles striker who was in Nigeria's squad to the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan has now scored three goals for his team in seven matches. He has played 507 minutes of club football for Cambuur this seasson. 

Ogbeche who turns 31 on Thursday, October 1, which is Nigeria's Independence Day, made one key pass, won eight aerial balls, had 51 touches of the ball and had 58.8% pass accuracy. 

Senegal's Mame Biram Diouf came off the bench in the 62nd minute in place of Bojan in Stoke City's 2-1 win home win against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Britannia Stadium.  Diouf's 83rd minute goal was his third in six games. 

Diouf made 13 touches of the ball and had a 66.7% pass accuracy for his team.

    Nigeria players need to do more to compete favorably with other African contemporaries, if not the task of lifting the super eagles by Oliseh will not come that soon.
