The Super Eagles may have lost left back Elderson Echiejile to injury ahead of the World Cup but other players feared to have picked up knocks are winning their fitness races.
Completesportsnigeria.com gathered that the trio of Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Ramon Azeez have all started different shades of trainings before their departure for Brazil on Tuesday.
Omeruo is doing some workout in the pool during the Eagles’ trainings, UD Almeria midfielder Ramon Azeez had cramps suffered from the USA game but is now okay while Ahmed Musa trained with the rest of the squad on Sunday evening which included recalled midfielder, Ejike Uzoenyi, who was a late replacement for the injured Echiejile.
Meanwhile, former Calabar Rovers and Super Eagles midfielder Edema Fuludu joins the band of Nigerian ‘prayer warriors’ hoping the team will not further be affected by injuries before the World Cup starts.
“Honestly, I pray we (Super Eagles) don’t have more injury setbacks,” Fuludu states.
“I pray nothing of sorts as we go into the World Cup.
“Talking about their pre-World Cup friendlies, I wish the Eagles well because they were able to defeat a non-African side going into this mundial.
“The World Cup proper may be a different kettle of fish. The performance against USA wasn’t so encouraging, though I didn’t watch their game against Greece. I just hope they will surpass people’s expectations in Brazil,” Fuludu asserts.
