Having ended his 10-game goal drought last weekend when he scored in the 4-0 bashing of Spartak Moscow, Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa would be looking to further increase his goals tally for CSKA Moscow when they play host to Rubin Kazan on Monday at the 18,636-capacity Arena Khimki.
With Zenit already crowned Russian League winner having attained an unassailable 64 points and with just two rounds of matches to go, CSKA are currently second on the log with 56 points only edging Krasnodar to the 3rd position on the log with superior goals advantage. That means the race for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers slot is still open between the second and third placed teams.
To this end, Musa and CSKA will be looking to make home advantage count against Rubin Kazan but they must not get complacent against their visitors who are also looking to guaranty their UEFA Europa League slot. Rubin Kazan are currently 5th on the log with 47 points and will be desperate to amass more point to further keep 6th-placed Spartak Moskva with 43 points at bay from dislodging them from the lesser European competition.
While Musa’s goal drought lasted, the pair of midfielders – Roman Eremenko and Bibras Natcho had both scored 12 goals each to overtake the Nigerian striker on CSKA’s scorers chart. To this end, Musa will be seeking to score more goals to improve his present tally which stands at 10 goals.
