Nigeria's 400m runner, Samson Nathaniel, has described his performance at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London as disappointing Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Nathaniel was one of the three Nigerian athletes that crashed out of the championship on Day 2 after he failed to qualify for the next round of his heat race.
Nathaniel, 20 finished a distant fifth in Heat 6 with a time of 46.63s behind first placed Jamaica's Nathon Allen who won the heat with a time of 44.91s.
Gil Roberts came second with a time of 44.92s while Abdalelah Haroun from Qatar qualified in third position with a time of 45.27s. Muhammed Anas Yahiya in fourth place recorded a time of 45.98.
Nathanial told Athletics Africa in a video interview that he barely had enough rest before competing in the event on Saturday.
"It was disappointing for me," he said.
"I arrived London on Friday evening and barely had enough rest before racing today (Saturday)."
Other Nigerian athletes who also crashed out of the championship are Chukwuebuka Enekwechi who failed to advance to the final of the men’s Shot put after placing 25th on the overall rankings, and Edose Ibadin who placed sixth in the 800m event.
