National boxing coach Tony Konyegwachi has revealed that boxers expected to take part in the National Boxing Championship will officially arrive in camp tomorrow, Sunday 28 June.
The National Open Championship will kick off on Monday 29th June, inside the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium Lagos.
In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, Konyegwachi disclosed that the draws for the championship will hold on the commencement day.
“From tomorrow, Sunday 28th June, boxers for the National Open Championship are expected to start arriving camp. And like I earlier mentioned, we are expecting men and women boxers across the federation.”
“On the very day of the championship, the draws will be held to know which boxer will be facing who.”
Konyegwachi also said that there will be weighing and medical check up of the boxers on Monday.
“Aside from the draws, there will be weighing of the boxers, and also medical check up to ascertain their fitness level of the boxers.”
The National Open Championship is being organized by the Nigeria Boxing Federation to select boxers who will represent Nigeria at the All Africa Games in Congo.
