Ndidi: My EPL Goal Vs Stoke First Of Many To Come

By Kayode Ogundare:

Leicester City of England and Nigeria international, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi, has described his 25-yard cracking goal against Stoke City on Saturday as "fulfilling and the first of many more to come", Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Ndidi broke the Potters' resistance after 25 minutes,  taking a pass from Danny Simpson to curl the ball past Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant into the top corner before Jamie Vardy added the second for a 2-0 win, thereby maintaining manager Craig Shakespeare's 100% start with four straight wins in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Completesportsnigeria.com, Ndidi expressed his happiness to help the team win and turn around their season.

He said: "Firstly, I'm happy to help the team win. We are trying to turn a difficult corner after a not-too impressive start to the season so every effort must count and we all try to give our best. Winning as a team is the ultimate."

The former KRC Genk of Belgium star denied he was under any pressure to score although he was always looking for the opportunity to do so in every game.

"My first job is to prevent the opposition from scoring. Once I've been able to do that, I can then push forward to help the attack. That's always been a part of my game and that's why I'm always in the opponents box when we have set pieces but I'm not under any pressure to score goals. This was good and fulfilling and I hope to get as many more as possible to help my team," he said.

Ndidi scored his first goal for Leicester City in a 3-1 FA Cup win over Derby County on February 8 after a January move to the Foxes from Genk but has been one of the standout performer for the reigning League Champions even under the former manager Claudio Ranieri.

Influential football statistics website whoscored.com also rates Ndidi as Leicester City's best performing player with a 7.37 rating ahead of Christian Fuchs (7.04); Riyad Mahrez (6.87) and Kasper Schmeichel (6.85) respectively.

He's played 13 times for Leicester with only one booking in the 2-0 Champions League win over Sevilla in March.
