Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi made his 25th Premier League start of the season for Leicester City who lost 3-1 away to Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Wembley Stadium, reports Completesports.com.
Davidson Sanchez put Spurs ahead against the run of play, and Christian Eriksen doubled the home side’s advantage shortly after Jamie Vardy had missed a penalty kick.
Vardy made amends scoring with 16 minutes left, and a last-minute goal from Son Heung-Min wrapped up the win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side who close the gap on leaders Liverpool to five points.
Leicester had the better of the opening stages in North London, and their first opportunity came in the eighth minute as Harry Maguire saw a header tipped over the crossbar by Hugo Lloris.
Harvey Barnes also had a chance to score but he fired his shot wide.

In the second half, Spurs doubled their advantage after Ricardo Ricardo Pereira gave the ball away and after linking up with Fernando Llorente. Eriksen fired a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Kelechi Iheanacho came on for Rachid Ghezzal in the 72nd minute of the game.
The game was Iheanacho’s 13th substitute appearance for Leicester City in 22 games this term.

Are tough times ahead for Ndidi?
I was shocked to learn that Ndidi was not originally meant to be in the starting line-up for Leicester in their 3:1 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs over the weekend.
A sure-banker name in Leicester’s starting 11 for the better part of 2 seasons, a relegation to the bench will be the last thing Ndidi needs at the moment with Mikel Agu – whose profile has enhanced with regular playing time in Portugal – breathing down his neck for the main holding midfield role in the Super Eagles.
Prior to the weekend fixture, a message on Leicester tweeter handle read: “A late change for City. Papy Mendy suffered an injury in the warm-up and is replaced by Wilfred Ndidi in midfield as a precaution.
Kelechi Iheanacho comes onto the #lcfc bench.”
Going back that message, had Mendy not being injured, then he would have been in the starting 11, relegating Ndidi to the bench while kicking Iheanacho out of the match day squad all together.
But why? I thought Ndidi had become an indispensable part of Leicester’s starting 11.
According to Leicestermecury.co.uk prior to the match:”It will be the first time since joining City that Ndidi has been among the substitutes for a Premier League game.”
But Mendi got injured and Ndidi was restored to the starting 11.
When the original team list was released, fans were shocked at the dropping of Ndidi and Vardy.
One fan wrote on twitter :”You’ve got to be joking.
Playing spurs and you’ve benched Vardy and Ndidi?
Absolute clown”
For me, Ndidi needs to show more than just being a marauding spoiler. He needs to be able to stamp his authority on games to dictate proceedings from his deep midfield post.
Already a high profile player dropping to the bench will not do his career any good at all………
I will have nightmares if he is dropped to the bench.
Well, I exaggerated the above, but it will be heartbreaking to say the least.
God forbid that our most regular Super Eagle in the premiership drops to the bench!
Corrie be Ndidi was being rested, it is after all the very first tone since he had been there in two seasons that he’d be dropped, could be that the coach is under a lot of pressure and not thinking through things clearly.
Ndidi is one of the best defensive midfielders in the English premier League and his stats are amazing. Even last couple of weeks he’s won plaudits.
Having said that, our options in the defensive midfield position are expanding with Agu, Ogu, Mikel, Ajayi all producing good performances week on week. Add to that list Ramon Azeez and now Okechukwu Azubuike who joined Rizespor from Egypt. Himself and Awaziem did themselves a world of good last week in DM and CB positions.
I wouldn’t call Ndidi a crises for either himself or the national team. Worst case scenario, he’ll be snapped up by a good side come the end of the season if he does by some quirk of fate losses his starting position
