Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi made his second English Premier League start for Leicester City and could do little for the Foxes as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Southampton on Sunday.
The Nigerian international played 90 minutes in what was his third appearance for Leicester City.
James Ward-Prowse scored the opener in the 26th minute and Jay Rodriguez doubled the Saints’ lead in the 39th minute going into the break.
Dusan Tadic sealed the win from the spot in the 86th minute after Wes Morgan had fouled Shane Long in the box.
Nathan Redmond missed a good chance to give Southampton the lead in the third minute.
Christian Fuchs mistimed Dusan Tadic’s cross and Redmond, who expected Fuchs to clear, headed the cross onto the roof of the net from eight yards
Ndidi had Leicester City’s first real chance volleying straight at Fraser Foster from 30 yards
Ward-Prowse curled in a fine strike past Kasper Schmeichel after a brilliant move from Cedric and Nathan Redmond from the right flank.
Ward-Prowse who scored the opener turned provider in the 39th minute.
The England star delivered a superb cross which was missed by the Leicester defence line leaving Rodriguez to fire in from close range past Schmeichel.
In the 63rd minute Claudio Ranieri introduced Ahmed Musa for Shinji Okazaki but the Nigeria international could not help his side suffering another defeat.
