Leicester City continued their battle against relegation on Saturday at the King Power Stadium with a 2-0 Premier League win against Stoke City with goals from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi who was in Nigeria's squad that faced Senegal recently in a friendly scored his first Premier League goal for the Foxes in the 25th minute when he collected a pass and decided to shoot from about 22 metres out. The ball zoomed around the goalkeeper and ended up in the top right corner.
Vardy made it 2-0 two minutes after half time, finishing off with aplomb a Danny Simpson cross. Simpson also assisted Ndidi's goal.
Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa was an unused substitute for the champions.
Eagles forward Victor Moses was missing from the Chelsea starting line-up for the first time this season since October due to injury in their 1-2 defeat against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. The Blues thus failed to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Chelsea went in front as early as the fifth minute when Eden Hazard fed Cesc Fabregas inside the box. The Spaniard who was unmarked buried the ball in the bottom left corner.
Crystal Palace then responded in dramatic fashion four minutes later through Wilfred Zaha whose shot from the edge of the box sent the ball past Thibout Courtouis in Chelsea goal.
The Eagles then made it 2-1 in the 11th minute courtesy of Christian Benteke who received the ball inside the box, reacted quickly and without any problems chipped the ball into the back of the net.
Elsewhere, recuperating Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe was not available for bottom-of-the-table Sunderland as they faced Nigeria's Isaac Success and his Watford team-mates at their Vicarage Road home ground. The game ended 1-0 for Watford with a goal scored by defender Miguel Britos.
Success came off the ench in place of Morocco's Nordin Amrabat in the 53rd minute.
Andy Carroll put West Ham United ahead at the KCOM Stadium against Hull City, his seventh of the season and 50th EPL goal of his club career, but two strikes from City's Andrew Robertson and Andrea Ranocchia helped the Tigers in their survival push for a 2-1 win.
Manchester United played their eighth league draw at home as they were held to a 0-0 draw by West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford, while Eric Dier and Son Heung-Min were on the scoresheet as Tottenham Hotspur defeated home side, Burnley 2-0 at The Turf Moor to stay in second place.
