Ndidi Set To Earn Improved Leicester City Deal

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, is set to be offered an improved deal by English Premier League club, Leicester City, as reward for his impressive showing in the past campaign, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Ndidi, 21, has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League since his £15million move to the King Power Stadium from Belgian club Genk last January.

He won more tackles than any player in the Premier League last season.

The midfielder currently earns £35,000 per week at Leicester City.

A number of clubs are believed to be interested in signing the Nigeria international, but The Foxes, according to a report in Leicester Mercury, are said to be preparing to offer the midfielder a new contract.

Ndidi has made more than 60 appearances for The Foxes since arriving in English Premier League.

  • This guy is really good. As good as he is, certain key elements are still very much missing in his game.

As a defensive midfielder of the highest quality, skills and attributes needed to earn a world class status include:

Ability to dictate the tempo of a game.
Ability to deliver incisive passes consistently.
Ability to deliver long balls into delicate areas
Delivery of curved and finesse shots.
    Ability to read the game.

Ndidi does not possess the skills above in sufficient quantity at the moment.

All the above added to interceptions, ground coverage, tackles and attention to position that Ndidi already possesses should help propel him to greater heights.

Which defensive midfield player in the world has all the above listed attributes. This post makes no sense.

    • Claude Makalele, Xabi Alonso, Sunday Oliseh, Patrick Viera, Abou Diabi (when fit) are all midfielders that Ndidi needs to aspire to be like.

These were midfielders known for more than just covering a lot of grounds, making tackles and having the best statistics for interceptions.

They were game-changers, box to box players, very (very) comfortable with ball to feet, had a range of technical shots (Xabi Alonso), could dictate the tempo of games (even Mikel Obi is good at dictating tempo).

Ndidi is still young that is why he can move about like he does, if he doesn’t add other key elements to his game, mark my words, he will end up like Onazi in some years to come.
