Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi made his sixth English Premier League start of the season for Leicester City who revived their miserable season with a 3-1 win over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
Ndidi was one of the stars of the night as he constantly broke Liverpool’s play and launched Leicester attacks.
Jamie Vardy scored a brace to end his goal drought of eight EPL games and Danny Drinkwater was also on target as the Foxes recorded their first win in 2017 and handed Liverpool a fifth league defeat of the campaign.
Phillipe Coutinho scored a consolatory gaol in the 72nd minute of the game.
The win also saw Leicester City move up to 15th in the EPL log with 24 points from 26 games.
Ndidi’s compatriot Ahmed Musa was not listed in the matchday squad by Leicester’s interim manager Craig Shakespeare.
Leicester City began the game with a fast paced tempo which saw Jurgen Klopp’s side on the back foot for the first nine minutes.
The Foxes created the first chance in the seventh minute when Shinji Okazaki’s flying header was saved by Simon Mignolet.
Leicester pressed on and created another chance from a corner with Robert Huth failing to hit target with his free header.
Vardy who was on a goal drought of eight games in the English Premier League made the first attempt on goal in the 21st minute when he fired in his first on the night.
Drinkwater doubled the lead with a thunderous strike from 25 yards. In the second half Vardy leaped higher than the Liverpool defence to head home Christian Fuchs’ cross from the left for his second of the night in the 61st minute.
Nine minutes later, Coutinho side footed in Emre Can’s pass from 15 yards to spark up a revival but it was too last as Shakespeare brought on Daniel Amartey to shore up his midfield.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
