St Helens head coach Justin Holbrook says the new signings in the side will help them in their quest for silverware next season. The Saints were the best team in the Betfred Super League last season winning the League leaders shield but they fell at the final hurdle when it came to landing the top prize, losing their semi-final to Warrington Wolves.
In an effort to go one step further next season, Holbrook has added three NRL players to the side – full back Lachlan Coote, Fiji skipper Kevin Naiqama and forward Joseph Paulo, as well as Joe Batchelor from York City Knights.
Holbrook told the St Helens Star: “I am confident with our squad. Although I am disappointed to lose guys like Jon Wilkin and Ben Barba, I think you need new faces if you keep hitting the same stumbling block in competitions.”
