Fiorentina or Bologna are the latest Italian Serie A sides to be linked with a swoop to sign Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini. The 26-year-old Italy international struggled to live up to his start to life at St Mary’s when he arrived from Napoli in January 2017 for around £14million and scored four goals in 11 Premier League outings.

Gabbiadini made just 11 starts last term and, despite being linked with a summer move, he stayed put and has scored one goal in eight appearances to date.
Former club Sampdoria were last week being tipped to make a move to re-sign him in January, while fresh reports in Italy are suggesting the number of potential suitors is growing.
Fiorentina are the second joint-lowest scorers in the top half of the Serie A table, while his former loan club Bologna are just one point clear of the relegation places, so both sides could do with the firepower of Gabbiadini to give them a lift in the second half of the season.
