Amkar Perm new boy Izunna Uzochukwu has vowed to give his all if fielded in Nigeria‘s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania on Saturday in Dar-es-Salaam despite being a new player in the Super Eagles.
The 23-year-old midfielder says he is fully prepared to battle for a place in the team and help Nigeria maintain their 100% record in their AFCON qualifiers.
“My aim is to give a performance that will earn me another call-up to the national team,” Uzochukwu began in a chat with completesportsnigeria.com
“I’m ready for the competition which this invitation brings.”
Uzochukwu who is one of the four Russian-based players called up by Sunday Oliseh for this weekend’s fixture also expects the game to be a close and hostile one, but believes the Super Eagles can exploit the defensive frailties of the host with the pacy forwards in the team.
“We have an ambition and that is to win. They will want to intimidate us but we have players that can take them on in attack,” he added:
Uzochukwu has played five of Amkar Perm’s seven games in the Russian league this season.
