By James Agberebi: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) continued their impressive run in the French Ligue 1 as they thrashed Rennes 4-1 away on Saturday.
A brace from Neymar and a goal each from Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe secured the comfortable win for the league leaders. Firmin Mubele got Rennes’ goal.
Neymar opened scoring in the fourth minute before Mbappe doubled the score on 17 minutes.
Mubele reduced the deficit for Rennes when he scored in the 53rd minute to make it 2-1.
Cavani restored PSG’s two-goal advantage as he got on the score sheet on 75 minutes.
A minute later, Neymar scored his second goal to put the game beyond Rennes.
In the 89th minute PSG had a player sent as Presnel Kimpembe was given his marching orders.
And in the 90th minute, Rennes were awarded a penalty which Wahbi Khazri missed.
The win saw PSG maintain leadership in the league table as they took their points tally to 47, nine points ahead of champions and second-placed AS Monaco.
