Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed Mr Harry Awurumibe in the capacity of Special Adviser on Women Football to Amaju Melvin Pinnick, President of the NFF, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Awurumibe’s appointment took effect from January 4, 2015. He was presented to the media in Abuja on Thursday January 7, as well as to the members of the National U-17 Women’s team, Flamingoes.
According to the letter of appointment signed by the General Secretary of the NFF, Dr Sanusi Mohammed, Awurumibe’s appointment was sequel to his contributions to the development of women football in the country through his books on women football as well as reports on women football as a journalist.
Awurumibe is expected to provide quality advice to the NFF boss, such that will aid the NFF president in taking women football to higher heights.
“I received the appointment letter yesterday and I cannot stop thanking the NFF for finding me worthy to be so honoured,” Awurumibe told Completesportsnigeria.com
His first official assignment will be Saturday January 9, when Nigeria’s Flamingoes take on Baby Gladiators of Namibia in a FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abuja.
It would be recalled that Mr Awurumibe served under similar capacity when he was appointed special adviser to former Imo State governor, Ikedi Ohakim, on Heartland Football Club.
