–Boumsong sends Peoples Elephant to final with 1-0 win
Cameroun import, Rafael Boumsong scored five minutes after the break to hand Enyimba their sixth Federation Cup final ticket as the Peoples Elephant earned a hard fought 1-0 win over Giwa FC Thursday at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta setting up a final clash with four time winners, Dolphins on August 16.
Enyimba dominated play almost whole and entirely as the Giwa side appear to give their eventual conquerors too much respect, space and time on the ball.
The few occasions they got close to Enyimba area they either run out of ideas or lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
Mohammed Saleh would have himself to blame for shooting on the dot of added time after Enyimba goalkeeper strayed away from his post.
Coach Kadiri Ikhana said the People’s Elephant have what it takes to win again.
“It was a memorable return to Abeokuta for me. I’m happy we made it to the final from here and I think we have what it takes to retain the cup.
“I’m not God but I believe we will have to try our best to win”, Ikhana who is chasing his first Federation Cup win with Enyimba said ahead of the final clash with Dolphins said.
