NFF: No Targets For Oliseh

NFF: No Targets For Oliseh

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:

The Nigeria Football Federation have said that they will not put pressure on Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh to win the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) or reach any specific targets.

According to the 2nd Vice President of NFF, Shehu Dikko, CHAN is never top priority and winning it can never be used to measure Oliseh as the Super Eagles coach.

He said  that the focus of the football ruling body  is to see how talented  young players in the Nigeria Premier League can be discovered and graduate into the main stream Super Eagles.

He said that  Oliseh’s mandate is to restructure Nigerian football.

Unlike the norm in the past where the national team coaches were given targets, the Nigeria Football Federation refused to give Oliseh any target but said that his performance will be judged by his overall out put over a period.

“Winning or losing CHAN will not be used to asses the Super Eagles coaches,” Dikko told completesportsnigeria.com. “Our focus is more on discovering young and talented players from the Nigeria Premier League that can break into the main Super Eagles. By the time we see most of our league players forming the bulk of the Super Eagles, then we can say we have succeeded and the coach would have succeeded too.”

  • This is good for Nigerian football. There is nowhere in the oyibo land that target is set for the coach. During Keshi’s time different types of target was set for him. So all along the NFF knew it was wrong. OK o. Any Nigerian organization that wished any NIGERIAN coach to fail because of hatred or something, is indirectly wishing the nation to fail and that is call TREASON. Check your dictionary for the meaning of that word. I wish KESHI will pursue the N1,000,000,000.00 matter with all his energy down to the CAS or World Court level. Oliseh please don’t be deceived as this NFF will set various traps for you immediately you have one small problem with them. What happened to the blackened pot will also happen to the new and shiny kettle.
