NFF To Sack Garba, Assistants

—Unlikely To Renew Flying Eagles Coaches' Contracts

By Richard Jideaka:

The exit of the Flying Eagles from the on-going FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada marks the end of the contract the Nigeria Football Federation have with the team's coaching crew and other support staff, federation president Amaju Pinnick has said.

The NFF boss told completesportsnigeria.com that the coaches led by Manu Garba know that their job ended with the World Cup and will wait to know if the federation will renew their contract or ask them to give way for other coaches to try taking the team to the next  level

"They are aware that their job ends after the Under-20 World Cup and that all financial obligation we have with them expires this month," Pinnick explained.
"The NFF will meet to decide what next to do with the coaching crew, whether to renew their contract or simply thank them and wish them well.

"For the players, we shall look at the technical report of the chief coach and know how best to continue their development programme. We are not disbanding the team. We shall continue to monitor their progress and advise them where necessary."

Pinnick expressed joy at the talent in the Flying Eagles, stressing that they are the future of Nigerian football and that the NFF will nurture them to attain their full potential.

On the team's support staff, Pinnick said they too will have to give way for other people to serve in tune with the federation's decision to make changes in the system after every major tournament.
