NFF Won’t Report Schalke To FIFA

Following Schalke 04 FC of Germany’s refusal to release Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi for Saturday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Red Devils of Congo, Complete Sports can report that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF have dropped the idea of reporting the Bundesliga side to the world football governing body, FIFA.

Spokesman of the federation, Ademola Olajire who spoke to Complete Sports yesterday said the Glass House decided to drop the idea for both sides to have a good working relationship, explaining that the idea of inviting 23 players for the two qualifiers was to avoid a situation like this.

The former Flying Eagles forward who was at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games recently returned from injury and needed time to be very fit before honouring international assignments.

“I can tell you that the idea of reporting Schalke 04 to FIFA has been dropped because we are partners in progress and we don’t want anything that will affect the career of Obasi in the club”, says Olajire.
