World U17 champions, Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have confirmed their place in the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, to defend the cadet title they won in the United Arab Emirates in 2013 following their 3-1 victory over Zambia on Saturday to reach the semi-finals of the CAF U17 Championship in Niger.
The game earlier billed to kick off 4.30pm Nigerian time was later shifted to 6.30pm.
Emmanuel Amunike’s team finished top of Group A with five points from three matches, while Guinea were second on four points after they were upset 2-1 by already eliminated hosts Niger.
The 2015 U17 World Cup will be staged in Chile in November with four teams representing Africa.
Victor Osimhen gave the Eaglets the lead after 36 minutes, before skipper Kelechi Nwakali made it 2-0 a minute to half time.
Prolific striker Victor Osimhen completed his brace with a 48th minute strike to give Nigeria a 3-0 lead.
The Young Zambians pulled one goal back in the 61st minute through Patson Daka.
Both Nwakali and Osimhen now have three goals apiece in this tournament.
The Nigeria youngsters will now clash with the runners-up in Group B, which has Mali, South Africa, Cameroon and defending champions Cote d’Ivoire.
The semi-final matches will hold on Wednesday (25th February) and Thursday (26th February) respectively.
The third-place and final games will be played on Sunday 1st March 2015.
