Nigeria’s U-20 Women national team, the Super Falconets have been grouped along with England, Korea Republic and Mexico for the First Round of the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup to hold in Canada from August 5-24 2014.
Edwin Okon’s lasses were drawn in Group C during Saturday’s draw, while Africa’s second representative, Ghana will play in Group A with hosts, Canada, Finland and Korea DPR.
Group B contains Germany, USA, China and Brazil. New Zealand, Paraguay, France and Costa Rica make up Group D.
Nigeria who were runners-up of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2010 are able to take part in this year’s finals in Canada following the lifting yesterday of the FIFA suspension earlier handed to the country for a perceived government interference in football and court litigation involving different stakeholders in Nigerian football.
Nigeria have participated in all six editions of the tournament, including the 2002 edition which was hosted by Canada and was then the FIFA U-19 World Cup.
