Nigeria are set to begin their campaign in the maiden edition of the FIVB U17 World Championship in Mexico which begins today.
The national under-17 male and female beach volleyball teams could not secure entry visas to Mexico on time for the Championship.
However the Chairman of the Beach Volleyball Commission of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod believes that sheer determination and talent will see the team through despite not having the best of preparations for the Championship.
“We were only able to camp the players for a few days because we got the visa from the Mexican Embassy last week due to delays.
“We ought to have been in camp earlier than we did, but because we were not been able to get visas for the players on time, we had to put everything on hold.
“This is because we cannot start camping when we are not sure of getting visas to travel, because of the past experience we had with some other embassies, which denied us visas to attend previous competitions.
“Hopefully, lack of ample preparations will not hamper the team’s chances of a good outing in Mexico,” Nimrod told newsmen.
