Nigerian CC12 Cyclists Set For Rwanda After Lagos Race

Captain of CC12 Cycling Club, Eyo Effiok, has revealed that three Nigerian cyclists  will be participating in a cycling event in Rwanda next week, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

 

Effiok who was pleased with the massive turnout at the fourth edition of the 2017 CC12 criterium series held in Lagos disclosed that former Olympian Nathan Byukusenge will be training the selected cyclists for the event billed for Kigali from the 16th to the 18th in May.

 

"We are passionate about this sport and as we know cycling is the fastest growing sport in Nigeria," Effiok said.

 

"To this end three cyclists will be participating in a 23km race in a fortnight in Rwanda with Nathan Byukusenge ready to school our athletes."

 

Abaka Kurotimi won the fourth edition of the 2017 CC12 criterium series held in Lagos recently. 

 

Kurotimi who came second in the third edition last year, finished with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 38.58 seconds to win the top prize of N500,000.

 

Afis Bakare emerged first runner-up, completing the race with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 35.60 seconds while Carlisle Caleb came third, finishing with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 55.92 seconds.

 

In the Master categories, Alex Kamara came first while Ibiroma and Kunle Aluko came second and third respectively.

 

In the junior category, Akina Gedion won gold, Bethel Temple silver and Okeitunu Joseph bronze respectively.

 

Former cyclists Nathan Byukusenge and Sterling Magnell who took part in the event also got awards. Byukusenge, a Rwandan Olympian, won the award for the most aggressive athlete.
