By Johnny Edward: Nigerian defender, Akeem Latifu, has signed a two-year deal with Norwegian second division club Sogndal FC from Hungarian side Honved Budapest, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 29-year-old right back who previously featured for Stromsgodset, Hodd and Alesund is seen as a replacement for the pair of Taijo Teniste and Magnus Pedersen who left the club for SK Brann and Middelfart G&BK respectively.
According to a statement on Sogndal FC official website, the Nigerian international is expected to help the club regain promotion to the top flight after they were relegated last season.
The Sports Director of the club,Havard Flo, told the club’s official website that he is pleased to have the experienced full-back in his ranks.
“I am very pleased to get Latifu in,” Flo told Sogndal’s official website.
“He is one fast and offensive right-back, and has a lot of experience at the top level.
“We are a little thin on the right-back position when Teniste and Pedersen went to other clubs. Latifu will be an important piece for us in the season.”
