Super Eagles of Nigeria 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group E opponents Bafana Bafana of South Africa defeated hosts Zambia 2-0 to emerge winners of the four-nation invitational tournament in Ndola on Saturday.
A goal in each half from Percy Tau in the 15th minute and Mothiba Lebo in the 92nd minute sealed the win for South Africa.
To get to the final, South Africa beat Angola 6-5 on penalties after both teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation time.
Zambia, who were in Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying group, also got to the final after overcoming Zimbabwe 5-4 on penalties with full-time scores at 1-1.
In the third place match also decided on Saturday, Angola saw off Zimbabwe 4-2 via penalties. The game ended 2-2 in regulation time.
South Africa stunned the Super Eagles 2-0 on matchday one of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers in Uyo on June 10, 2017.
