Nigeria's Latifat Tijani has won silver in the 45kg event of the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.


The 34-year-old powerlifter narrowly lost the gold medal by to China’s Dandan Hu who set a new world record and personal record of 107kg.


Despite seeing her second attempt chalked off Tijani recorded a 106.0kg in her third attempt only for Dandun to raise the bar by a kilogramme.


Newson Zoe won bronze with a finishing with 102 points 


Nigeria won just one bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, and has been more successful at the Paralympics than it has been at the Olympics.
