Today’s final match against Cameroon may mark the last time Nigerian duo,Perpetua Nkwocha and Stella Mbachu take to the field at the African Women Championship.
The two players have been an integral part of the Super Falcons side and they will no doubt be remembered for the important role they have played in ensuring the team have maintained their status as the best on the continent.
Mbachu was part of Super Falcons side that won the inaugural edition of the competition on home soil in 1998.
The River Angels star was a surprise inclusion in Falcons squad for Namibia 2014 and hinted before the start of the competition that this could be last time she will playing in the African Championship.
”This is my last time in the African Women’s Championship.Like my teammates, I am thinking of going to the AWC to win the Cup again, and then qualify for the World Cup too.
Nkwocha whose return to the national team set up was greeted with joy prior to the competition, also has a chance to quit the big stage on a high, having previously won the Championship on three occasions in the past (2002,2004 and 2006).
