Papilo FC, owned by former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu, began their campaign in the 2016/17 Nigerian National League with a 1-1 draw away to AS Racine of Lagos, coached by Kanu's former Eagles strike partner Victor Agali, at the Agege Stadium on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Abraham Chibuzor scored the opener for Papilo FC in the first half before Olafimihan Gafar earned a share of the spoils for AS Racine.
In other results, Bendel Insurance defeated My People 1-0 while Zamfara FC also edged out Kogi United 1-0.
Akwa Starlets and Unicem Rovers played out a 1-1 draw in a derby in Akwa Ibom.
Kaduna United lost 1-0 to FRSC in Abuja while Taraba FC lost at home 1-0 to Kwara United FC.
Gateway United also defeated Nnewi United 1-0 in Nnewi.
