Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Chidi Okenwa Offor, has revealed the Nigerian second tier domestic football league is still awork in progresa despite the huge improvement during Saturday's opening games of the new season which witnessed some away wins, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
"We've not gotten it right, but I assure you, by the time we succeed in taking this league to its rightful owners, people will come to appreciate and love it more," Offor told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"If we appreciate the fact that change begins with us all, I can assure you that all those things that bedeviled the league in the past that tended to give it a bad name will be uprooted.
"We are moving forward. We have worked out the rules and framework which we have given to the clubs.
"We must play by the rules, and if we do this, it becomes a good league for us all.
"We may not be moving as fast as Usain Bolt, but at the same time, we are like Johnny Walker, so we are not static.
"As professional clubs, we have given them the rules, so it is either you fall in line or you are out of it.
"We are not going to tell you to brush your teeth when you wake up in the morning. But if you fail to bruah your teeth, you certainly will be called to order. So we urge all the stakwholders in the NNL to cue into this 'change agenda' of the NNL which is obedience to the rules and framework of the NNL.
"If you want any rule to be effective, then you have to obey it," the NNL boss concluded.
