By Adeboye Amosu: Heartland head coach, Ramson Madu, blamed his team’s poor showing in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Four competition to inadequate preparation, but is confident they will get things right once the new season starts, reports, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
The Naze Millionaires lost their two games in the competition to Remo Stars and Go-Round, and couldn’t replicate the form that saw them came first in the Southern Conference in the NNL last term.
The Owerri club only started pre-season camping last week due to lack of funds and it was evident in the players’ performance as they lacked match fitness.
Madu is however confident that Heartlandwill bounce back from their poor showing in the NNL Super Four and put a better performance in the NFPL.
“I’m not worried with our performance here. We didn’t have enough time to prepare for this competition which affected our performance,” Madu informed CSN.
“Now, we have few days to get ourselves ready for the first game of the season against Sunshine Stars and I believe we will give a better performance in the game.
“The boys are working hard in training every day to be in good shape. I know things will be a bit tough in maybe the first three games or so, but I strongly believe we will get it right as soon as possible.”
