Veteran Nigerian movie actor Amechi Muonagor has expressed dismay over the decline of one of Nigeria’s traditional big clubs, Rangers of Enugu.
The Flying Antelope over the weekend suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Ifeanyi Ubah FC in a Glo Premier League game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Muonagor has been a passionate Rangers fan for years and he bared his mind over the loss to FC IfeanyiUbah whilst speaking exclusively to Completesportsnigeria.com.
“When Anambra and Enugu states were one state, the old Anambra State, the impact football made in the lives of football fans was wonderful. It was unprecedented,” the Nollywood superstar told completesportsnigeria.com.
“Those days when Rangers and Vasco Da Gama had games in Enugu, you’d see people coming by foot from Onitsha, Aba, Oba, Nnewi, Obosi and other cities in the south east to watch them play.
“These days, the affairs of Enugu Rangers are no longer the priority of the state government. They’re not channelling their priorities right.”
Enugu Rangers are 12th in the NPFL table while Ifeanyi Ubah, their nemesis FC are currently 10th after 23 rounds of games.
