By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Nollywood stars Yul Edochie and Segun Arinze have expressed utmost shock at the sacking of embattled Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Thursday.

Mourinho was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea suffered nine defeats in 16 games which left them in the 16th position in the Barclays Premier League table with 15 points.

In Nigeria, the announcement has continued to generate opinions and actor Yul Edochie was disconsolate following the announcement.

“The news of Jose Mourinho’s sacking brought tears to my eyes,” Yul told

“I’m a big fan of Mourinho, whatever club he goes to eventually, I will go.

“I think its a wrong move by Chelsea. Jose loves the club, and I believe he remains the best man for the job.

“I guess there was a disconnect between him and his players which the management should have tried to fix, not fire him.” then asked the award-winning actor if Champions League success will be the escape route from a disastrous season.

“I really don’t know if the Champions League will be competition Chelsea finds redemption. PSG is a strong team in France and in Europe. Now though, I’m still pained about Mourinho’s sacking,” veteran actor Pete Edochie’s son stated.

Arinze believes the current slump by Chelsea this season is not a new trend and insists Mourinho would have lifted the Premier League champions from their present predicament.

“Everything that could have gone wrong at Chelsea has gone wrong. The players lack passion and commitment.

“Every season clubs experience different challenges. It happened to Liverpool, Arsenal Manchester City and Manchester United. Sacking Mourinho would not be the solution,” Chelsea fan Arinze told

“I feel Roman Abramovich should have motivated the players because it seems to me that there’s a dressing room problem.

“The decision has been taken already. I hope to see a very experienced manager come in.”
