Shooting Stars ended their five matches winless streak against Rivers United in the Nigeria Professional Football League, securing a 1-0 win against the visitors in their match day seven fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
3SC have struggled against their guests in recent times and the unavailability of four of key players cast doubts on their ability to end the drought.
Rivers United's last visit to the ground ended on a joyful note as they were held to a 2-2 draw by the Oluyole Warlords, a result which helped secure their top flight status.
There was however no joy for them this time around as they will go back to their base empty handed.
Wasiu Jimoh broke the dead lock five minutes before the break.
The forward converted from the penalty spot after Ofem Inah brought down Nojeem Olukokun inside the box.
Inah was sent off by the centre referee for the offence.
It was Jimoh's fifth goal of the campaign and he is now tied with Lobi Stars striker, Anthony Okpotu, on the top scorers chart.
Kadiri Ikhana's men failed to add to the tally in the second half despite their numerical advantage.
It was the first time Rivers United failed to score on their travels this season.
