NPFL: Abia Warriors Beat Enyimba, Heartland Pip Tornadoes In Escape Bid

Heartland and Abia Warriors boosted their survival hopes following impressive wins against Niger Tornadoes and Enyimba in their reschuduled fixtures on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

At the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri Heartland beat Niger Tornadoes 2-0.
Heartland captain, Chinedu Efugh, put his side ahead  five minutes before the break, while Chidiebere Ajoku scored the decisive second 20 minutes before time.

The Naze Millionaires who have now garnered 40 points remain in the 18th position in the table.
Tornadoes with the defeat are the  only side yet to pick a point on the road in the NPFL this season.

In Umuahia, Abia Warriors pipped local rivals Enyimba 3-1.
Micheal Olaha set Abdullahi Biffo's side on the road for the win when he bagged  the curtain raiser on 32 minutes.
Olaha turned provider 10 minutes later when Ndifreke Effiong turned his cross into the net.

The visitors reduced the deficit from the spot in the 69th minute through Alloy Brown after Joseph Osadiaye was upended in the box by a defender.

Shedrack Asiegbu netted the third goal from the spot  for Abia Warriors 10 minutes from time.

The hosts moved from 17th to 14th  in the table with the win.
In the other game on Wednesday, Kano Pillars secured a narrow 1-0 win against northern rivals El-Kanemi Warriors.
Rabiu Ali scored the winning goal from the spot after 15 minutes.
