NPFL: MFM Edge Out Akwa United In Lagos

By Adeboye Amosu: League leaders Akwa United suffered their second defeat of the campaign after going down to a 1-0 defeat against MFM FC in their Nigeria Professional Football League rescheduled match day eight fixture at the Agege Stadium on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Sikiru Olatunbosun scored the decisive goal nine minutes before the break. It was Olatunbosun’s second goal of the season.

Akwa United are now without a win in their last two games in all competitions and maintain top position in the NPFL table with 16 points despite the defeat, one more than second placed Plateau United.

MFM on the other hand moved from 16th to seventh position in the table with the win.

Both teams will not be in action this weekend as they prepare for their continental matches.

MFM will host Real Bamako in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture at the Agege Stadium, Lagos next week Sunday, while Akwa United are away to Banjul Hawks same day in the CAF Confederation Cup.
