NPFL: Nasarawa Win 11th Straight Home Game, Stop Rivers United

By Adeboye Amosu: Rivers United missed the chance to secure top position in the Nigeria Professional Football League after going down to a 1-0 defeat against Nasarawa United in Makurdi on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

With leaders Wikki Tourists and second-placed Enugu Rangers facing each other  in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday, a win would have seen the Pride of Rivers move to number one spot for at least 24 hours.

Instead, it was the hosts who secured an important win to ease their relegation worries.
The visitors won the reverse fixture 1-0, but never looked like replicating that result as the home side dominated proceedings from start to finish.

Abdulrahman Bashir scored the winning goal for the hosts, jabbing home Ishaya Anyu's cross on the hour mark.

It was the 11th consecutive win at home for the Solid Miners who are yet to drop points at their stadium since the opening day defeat against MFM FC.
The remaining matchday 25 fixtures will be played across eight centres on Sunday.
