Former Nigerian Professional Football League champions Kano Pillars can go top of the league for the first time this season with a win away to current league leaders Plateau United at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Pillars, the most in-form team in the NPFL at the moment unbeaten in their last five games, took advantage of Plateau's 1-1 draw away to Shooting Stars last Sunday by moving up third in the NPFL standings with two home wins.
Against a Plateau United team with five wins and a draw at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Kadiri Ikhana's side will bank on their improved form away which has seen them earn draw against Rivers United in Port Harcourt and Remo Stars.
In Maiduguri, second placed El Kanemi Warriors will stretch their winning run at the El-Kanemi Stadium to 20 games and keep pace with leaders Plateau United at the top of the log if they see off Niger Tornadoes.
They could also depose leaders Plateau United at the summit if the Jos-based outfit lose or draw their clash against Kano Pillars.
Sunshine Stars' 1-0 defeat away to Akwa United was the fourth time they have failed to score this season and they are the second highest scoring team in the NPFL with 14 goals, two behind leaders Plateau United.
In Sagamu, fourth-placed ABS could record back-to-back wins for the first time this season if they beat hosts Remo Stars who are without a win under their coach Fatai Osho in their last five games.
Osho's side, currently bottom of the NPFL table, have recorded three 1-1 draws since he took charge from Nduka Ugbade last month.
Fifth-placed MFM will put their impressive record against seven-time champions, Enyimba, on the line when they both clash at the UJ Esuene Stadium on Saturday in Calabar.
Enyimba are in the 14th position with 14 points from 11 games.
At the Pantami Stadium, Gombe United will be aiming for their fifth win of the season against Shooting Stars. The Oluyole Warriors have failed to record a win in their last five games and are 18th in the NPFL table with 11 points from 11 games.
At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia Warriors will take on Lobi Stars while Nasarawa United face FC IfeanyiUbah who beat Remo Stars 3-0 in a rescheduled game on Wednesday.
FC IfeanyiUbah's four NPFL wins have all come at home this season and they are unbeaten at their ground. Akwa United will look to secure consecutive wins against Sunshine Stars at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The games involving Enugu Rangers and Rivers United have been postponed due to their CAF Champions League engagements this weekend.
