Enyimba on Thursday missed the chance of moving into the top four of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after a nervy 0-0 draw with visiting Rivers United at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The defending champions and seven time winners thus earned just a single point from three matches following defeats at Wikki Tourists and Nasarawa United going into the match day 21 cracker against Rivers United.
The People’s Elephant were denied time and again by veteran goalkeeper, Rotimi Sunday, who stood between the home team and the goals.
The result means Enyimba with 31 points occupy the sixth position with 31 points with a game in hand while Rivers United who pride themselves as Pride of Rivers move into second position with 35 points.
Enyimba will travel to arch rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club, Ibadan, on Sunday for a match day 22 fixture while Rivers United welcome MFM at Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt.
