–Ex-international wants Uche back in the team
Former Nigeria international defender Chidi Nwanu has called for the overhauling of the present Super Eagles team.
Nwanu, a former team mate of Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi in 1994 disclosed that he was disappointed with the performance of the players in the two matches, adding that it showed clearly that the players were no more in the mood to play for their country.
“It is sad to watch the Super Eagles lose to Congo Brazaville the way did in Calabar. It showed that there are problems in the team and now is the time something drastic should be done and I would suggest a total overhauling of the team for Nigeria to progress”, says the ex-international
“The way I see these players now, there is a total decline in their performance compared to when the players fought gallantly in South.
Africa in 2013 to win the Africa Cup of Nations. So there is need for my friend and brother Stephen Keshi to have a second look at this team and do a surgical operation by overhauling the team,” he stated.
He continued: “Nigeria is a country blessed with lots of talented footballers and we need players that are hungry, devoted, dedicated and ready to fight for shirts in the team. Keshi should remember that during our days, there was serious fight for position in the team,” Nwanu stated.
