–Ex-international tasks team to work hard
Former Nigeria national team player, Henry Nwosu believes that the Super Eagles need a lot of support to overcome the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in today’s 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Town.
The former Super Eagles assistant coach who told Complete Sports that the best of the team was not seen against the Red Devils of Congo last Saturday in Calabar said he hopes the Coach Stephen Keshi led side will not allow the result to stop them from redeeming the country’s image in the match holding at the Cape Town stadium later today.
“I don’t want to believe that what we saw of the Super Eagles against Congo was the best the players can offer after winning the tournament last year and also featured at the World Cup, something must have gone wrong and they need to look beyond that and remain focused against South Africa,” he said.
“They just have to understand that losing to Congo will not in any way helps them and so they need to work harder to beat South Africa to redeem the country’s image otherwise qualifying for the Nations Cup could be difficult.
“We should not make the players or the coaches to feel as if they are not good at all; we should encourage them and give them more support so that they can do more. Congo knew that our house was not in order and they capitalized on that to win the match but we can still redeem the image by beating South Africa.
Nwosu however urged Coach Stephen Keshi to ensure that the players are well focused ahead of the match against the Bafana Bafana.
