Nwosu Slams Eagles For Poor Display Against Ghana

Nwosu Slams Eagles For Poor Display Against Ghana

Former Golden Eaglets coach, Henry Nwosu has said the Super Eagles lacked experience against their Ghanaian opponents, the Black Meteors.

The Eagles pipped their West African neighbours 1-0 in an international friendly on Friday at the ultra-modern Akwa Ibom Stadium, the ‘Nest of Champions’ in Uyo.

Dolphins striker Emem Eduok netted the match winner in the 35th minute to hand Nigeria the maiden Transformation Cup, commemorating the official opening ceremony of the 30 000-seat edifice in the Akwa Ibom state capital.

Nwosu said the domestic Eagles played with hunger and passion but need more top-grade matches to blend together as a compact team.

“The Eagles played quite well with more hunger, passion and zeal in the first half of the encounter but lacked the needed experience to fully dominate and finish the tie better than they did” begins Nwosu.

“I think with more top-grade friendly matches, they’re most likely to play better as a team and gain the necessary experience that will stand them in good stead in any championship.

“It’s quite commendable that we won the match against Ghana, which is good for our image as well as the newly commissioned stadium,” said the former Nigerian winger to supersport.com.

Nwosu was however critical of the performance of the side’s captain and goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim. in the clash.

“I’ve not been impressed with Chigozie Agbim’s performance in any game he took charge of and today (Friday) he still didn’t fare any better.

“I can’t fathom exactly what’s wrong with him with several exposures at his disposal, I think he has lots of work to do to truly convince Nigerians that the cap fits him perfectly well.

“I think it’s high time the coaches start shopping for better goalkeepers to challenge Agbim. I believe there a good goalkeepers all over the country,” said the Gateway United head coach.

I have no bones to pick with the home eagles skipper and goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim .The truth is he is not a talented goalkeeper.he is not fit for being the national team keeper.
What about the Kano Pillars goal keeper ?
What about the Enugu Rangers goal keeper ?
What about the Nigerian U 23 goal keeper ?
These are better people than Chigozie Agbim to man the post for Nigeria.
Coach Ike Shorunmu should know that keeping this man there is a risk to his coaching career and to Nigerian football in general.
The truth is Chigozie is no longer fit for keeping the post for Super eagles and Home eagles.
