The Nigerian pair of Joel Obi and Umar Sadiq will work under a new coach at Italian Serie A club Torino FC who sacked head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic on Thursday following Wednesday night’s 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the Coppa Italia.
Both Obi and Sadiq will now receive instructions from Walter Mazzarri whose appointment was confirmed by Torino according to a statement from the club’s official website.
“Torino Football Club announces that it has entrusted the role of Coach of the first team to Mr Walter Mazzarri,” a statement on the club’s website confirms.
“The new Coach – to whom President Urbano Cairo extends the most cordial welcome, and his best wishes for good work – will take today’s scheduled behind closed doors training session at the Stadio Filadelfia.”
Mazzarri had previously been in charge at Watford before he was relieved of his duties at the end of last season.
Torino are currently 10th in Serie A but have won only five of their 19 league games this season.
